When you are tempted to give up, your breakthrough is probably around the corner
"When you are tempted to give up your breakthrough is probably just around the corner."
- Joyce Meyer
Do you ever feel as if you are trying so hard to make positive changes, and the progress is sooooo slow?
Even when the journey feels challenging and the progress seems slow, persistence can lead to significant positive changes and progress. Consistent effort and commitment, even when progress isn't immediately visible, are crucial. Sometimes, breakthrough moments come after overcoming significant obstacles or enduring challenging periods.
Staying motivated during slow progress can be tough. Here are some strategies to help you stick with it.
1. Set small, achievable goals - break down your larger health goals into smaller, manageable milestones. Celebrate every small win!
2. Track your progress - keep a journal or use an app to track your effort and progress. Reviewing your progress over time can help you see how far you have come.
3. Adjust your plan - If you are not seeing the results you hoped for, consider adjusting your plan. Sometimes minor tweaks can lead to significant improvement
4. Focus on the process, not just the outcome - Try to enjoy the journey and benefits of the changes you are making. For example, perhaps you feel energized after your workout, or satisfaction after eating a healthy meal. This can help to maintain motivation.
5. Find a support system - Join an exercise program or class. This can help to keep you accountable and on track. Share your goals with friends, family, or a support group. Having others to encourage you and hold you accountable can make a big difference.
6. Remind yourself of your "why" - Reflect on the reasons you started this journey and the benefits you hope to achieve. Keeping your larger purpose in mind can help you push through challenging times. Write down your why and keep it visible in places where you are likely to read it daily.
7. Practice Self-compassion - If there is one thing we can count on in our health and wellness journey, it’s setbacks! Understanding that setbacks are going to happen and a normal part of any journey is important to embrace. Be kind to yourself and avoid harsh self-criticism.
8. Stay educated and inspired - read success stories, follow motivational content, consult with trainers , coaches and healthcare professionals who can provide encouragement and new insights.
Staying dedicated and believing in the potential for change can be key to achieving long-term health and wellness goals.
Keep moving forward one baby step at a time.
